Percy the Printing Roller Lamp
When I first met Percy he was a little rough around the edges. His manners were lacking and his spelling was awful. But I could see beauty hidden by his rough exterior. Having worked for many years in the industrial printing mill, Percy had learned to hide his leafy, elegant pattern. His bronze metal blended with his dark wood core. Work was relentless. Through blistering summers and toe-freezing winters, Percy worked, turning and turning as the wallpaper and fabric passed by. At the advent of the digital printing press, Percy was “put out to pasture”. A handy person found him and made him into a lamp but after that, he languished among the cast-aways.
With a few coats of matte white paint and an elegant brand new shade, Percy was brought back into the light. Now his botanical pattern is highlighted against his industrial weight. Perfectly imperfect, and he stands with purpose once more, glowing with pride.
Lamp with shade: 15.5” diameter x 40” tall
Base: 6” diameter x 36” tall
