Wild Parrot on Oval Silverplate Tray
The Wild Parrot of San Francisco was named the city’s official animal in 2024. Mark Bitner, author of a book on the birds says “they are colorful, energetic, intelligent, and like many San Franciscans, come from somewhere else.” Otherwise known as the Red Masked Parakeet or Cherry-Headed Conure, these birds were once pets who escaped. Now they fly in a noisy flock around the city.
