Deidre the Daydream Dresser
Somewhere back in the midst of daydreamy time, a little yellow bird came to me. He was floating on swirling blue clouds in a cream colored sky. I know it must have happened because when I first saw the “Daydream” wallpaper patttern by Hygge and West, it felt so familiar. In a really good way. There’s something so fresh and calming about the pattern yet it somehow speaks of a time that was full of possibilities. Perhaps that was childhood. Perhaps I was dreaming.
When Hygge and West offered to let me use this fabulous wallpaper on one of my pieces, I jumped at the chance. This was a rare instance of a wonderful wallpaper coming before it’s eventual host furniture piece. I knew the vintage piece I needed to find had to be large enough to really show off the wallpaper scale, but I was delighted to discover a tall dresser with curvy curly details that would play off the swirling clouds. As usual, it took a little imagination. Deidre was dense, dark and dour when I found her. She even contained an errant sock. At least the sock was clean! I love it when a little bit of a furniture piece’s former life comes, snagged into its next life. It’s a little reminder that every piece I rescue has a very real past.
In her present form, Deidre is far from her former dusty, solemn self. She is delightful and dynamic instead. Welcome to Deidre the Daydream Dresser!
