Delphine the Desk

$1,995.00

Delphine was that movie character who appears in the first scene, bespectacled and dowdy with a stack of library books under her arm. The one who becomes prom queen by the end of the film after sweeping the hair off her face and getting some contact lenses. To the trained eye it was an obvious casting choice. When I met Delphine, she glimmered with promise among the fusty antiques. Many hours of sanding and polishing later, I present her here in all her natural loveliness.

Petite dressing table or desk in the Art Deco style of Jacques Ruhlmann. Finished on all four sides. Zebrawood refinished with clear gloss. Original reddish-brown Bakelite and brass drawer pulls. Matt brown resin trim. Light wear to bakelite knobs commensurate with age, as seen in last photo.

26.5” wide

20” deep

30” high

kneehole: 11” wide x 23” high

Shipping is NOT included. If you’re unable to pick up your piece in San Francisco please contact me (sarah@bashforddesign.com) for a shipping quote. Depending on your zip code, shipping could cost between $100 and $600.
